Changing names and removing titles does not prove anything. You got to prove to the people that you are working for the people. Lead the country towards peace and prosperity and do not indulge in little naming conventions.
Nepal should remain as the the Kingdom of Nepal and will be democratic as well.

I'm posting this "open letter" here and on other topics in the hope it will be read as much as possible:
themountaineer
Dear Mr Koirala,
Like most people around the world my Nepali wife and I are very pleased to see that the violent protests have now ceased in Nepal and that a dialogue has been opened with the Maoists. This is a welcome development in your country and we hope that this can lead to a peaceful and more prosperous time for your long suffering people.
You now have a golden opportunity to do something for your country that very few people ever get the chance to do, to heal old wounds, to right old wrongs and to offer hope to those in despair. You must seize this opportunity with both hands and ensure that you have the courage to do what is necessary whilst respecting the rights and the wishes of the people of Nepal if you are to become a true democracy, where people meet their obligations to the state as much as they draw the benefits that a democracy gives.
However this is a dangerous time where people given new power can seek to take revenge for what they see as old wrongs, to seek personal gain instead of seeking to do good for the state. In other words to work off the "wrong agenda". This is an area that concerns us and we would ask you to let your people know what your agenda involves BEFORE you seek to make sweeping changes, without a mandate, that include removing the power of the monarchy, taking control of the military. In addition it seems illogical to engage in a dialogue with Prachanda when his people are still engaged in violence and extortion of money from business people, tourists, and the everyday citizens of Nepal. I know of NO government in the world who will negotiate with terrorists UNTIL they have given up arms and all activity that harms the people.
I would like to see an Agenda For Change which covers:

People security
The economy
Reducing poverty
Water supply
Power supply
Roads and transport
Employment
Tourism
I'm sure others could add to this the things that are important, but my point is that these are the things people want to see, not the sudden abolition of the monarchy without reference to the people, not the open armed involvement of Prachanda until the Maoists lay down their arms and activities.

I would ask you to consider all these things before you trigger even more disturbances and possible civil war with people seeing that they have no hope from not only their King, but none from their politicians either.

Respectfully yours

Dr Brian & Dr Champa Metters (UK)

Don't take my pride of being citizen of the only Hindu Nation in the World.

Araj,

I like your enthusiam but your fundamentals got wrong. People from whom you want a Nation have turned it into a Secular nation. The people from whom you want the so-called democracy have given you corruption, terrorism, killings, extortions and deaths.

The person who wanted to bring change and peace has been replaced by mobs and terrorists. Some fundamentals are wrong, everything else follows.

that true that the present faces in the govt. are corrupt, hypocrites but sooner later we can have good leaders too but once are rights and pride of Hindu Nation is gone forever. I am in US, here if I say that my country is the only hindu country in the world to other hindus from Gayana, Trinida, India, Bangladesh and other Hindu country. They began feeling proud at least we have one country that is the only Hindu Nation.

I am going to lose my right now.............

Thats the thing which matters the most...When you are hurt...

Amit,

If you are a Hindu, just get back to Vedas and everything. A place for Chatur Varnas. A place for the King.

Anyway, at present we are not even bringing Vedas into consideration. At present we are bringing a leader of the Nation (HM Gyanendra) who was ready to fight for us Nepalis by putting his future at stake. Shame on us Nepalis that we didn't give him a chance to do that. I can never doubt the sincerity of our Kings. SPAM has done enough injustice to us.

Guys

I strongly oppose the secularism move. Afterall, Nepal only is the Hindu country in the world.

Yeah, as discussed by many of you, I too want the Hindu religion be regarded as the only official religion of the country

This is really welcome step, we are waiting to get this achivement since past.... years, a real historical change in May 18th 2006. Since, the area of the world become very small in this era because of the new fast and developed technology around the world. I would like to suggest Nepalese Government (please note its not His Majesty Government of Nepal) to use the internation calender as we are inside the world, we are not not part of the world. I am not against the Bikram Sambat being used officially across the country, but as acroos all over the world the internation calender is used and its really very inconvenient for us who has to come aboard on regular interval  of time and a lots of certificated and recommendation letter that we have on our hand are on Nepalese date and we always have to explain the date inside it.
Just for example, for ID proof in India, they asked me the DL(Driving Licence), not the passport, and which is going to expire on BS 2067, and which was issued on 2062, so the official said it is just 2006, how can you get license issued on 2062 and it really took a long for me to explain.
So my suggestion to Nepalese governmet is since we are going to do historical change, we have already became no Hindu country (In my opinion thats not a grate move not becoming a hindu country), if it is possible not to use Bikram Sambat and shall we start to use the internation calender as our official calender?
At last, the nepalese government should rething about the step on Hindu country as well as the calender being used across the county.
Thank you.

Anil, you axed your feet. Let's see...people who aren't proud of their culture and heritage are the first to  be doomed. That's why the South Asians and Nepalese haven't progressed - because they have lost their soul identity. All that they can do is follow the gawd damned colonial rules imposed on them. Just go and check out the Japanese, French and others and learn some self respect from them.

Hindu religion was originated from India so everyone knows that india is also called hindustan where majority of population there are hindus but india is a secular state. So why Nepal be a Hindu nation when Lord Buddha was born here.Even though majority of population in Nepal are Buddhist we are not saying Nepal to be a Buddhist nation but what we want is a secular state so that every religion in this country is respected and free to practice their religion. We are in 21st century its a stupidity to pray a human being as living god or goddess.Anyway finally the wait is over Nepal has become a secular country everyone lets join hands and make this country a better living place.
