Maoist welcomes HoR declaration cautiously
Maoist supremo Prachanda has welcomed and supported Thursday's declaration by the House of Representatives (HoR) as a partial “victory of the 12-point understanding reached between the Maoists and the seven-party alliance and people's movement.

I'm posting this "open letter" here and on other topics in the hope it will be read as much as possible:

Dear Mr Koirala,
Like most people around the world my Nepali wife and I are very pleased to see that the violent protests have now ceased in Nepal and that a dialogue has been opened with the Maoists. This is a welcome development in your country and we hope that this can lead to a peaceful and more prosperous time for your long suffering people.
You now have a golden opportunity to do something for your country that very few people ever get the chance to do, to heal old wounds, to right old wrongs and to offer hope to those in despair. You must seize this opportunity with both hands and ensure that you have the courage to do what is necessary whilst respecting the rights and the wishes of the people of Nepal if you are to become a true democracy, where people meet their obligations to the state as much as they draw the benefits that a democracy gives.
However this is a dangerous time where people given new power can seek to take revenge for what they see as old wrongs, to seek personal gain instead of seeking to do good for the state. In other words to work off the "wrong agenda". This is an area that concerns us and we would ask you to let your people know what your agenda involves BEFORE you seek to make sweeping changes, without a mandate, that include removing the power of the monarchy, taking control of the military. In addition it seems illogical to engage in a dialogue with Prachanda when his people are still engaged in violence and extortion of money from business people, tourists, and the everyday citizens of Nepal. I know of NO government in the world who will negotiate with terrorists UNTIL they have given up arms and all activity that harms the people.
I would like to see an Agenda For Change which covers:
People security
The economy
Reducing poverty
Water supply
Power supply
Roads and transport
Employment
Tourism
I'm sure others could add to this the things that are important, but my point is that these are the things people want to see, not the sudden abolition of the monarchy without reference to the people, not the open armed involvement of Prachanda until the Maoists lay down their arms and activities.
I would ask you to consider all these things before you trigger even more disturbances and possible civil war with people seeing that they have no hope from not only their King, but none from their politicians either.
Respectfully yours
Dr Brian & Dr Champa Metters (UK)

candie,
Maoists will come to dialogue with whom? We are in the Maoists Republic of Nepal. They make their decisions and they implement them. SPA is just a stooge which will be kicked out any moment.
Think, think and when you have done that cry your hearts out.

LOL. You realised that funding part just now. Nepalnews, Kantipur and Himalayan all receive funding from SPAM, specially M/S. Sujata Koirala.
Infact it is public now that Kantipur demanded money from the Palace to support the case of Palace. Also, Kantipur wrote against the Palace because the then government refused to give it satellite channel rights and blocked its FM (which was aiding the Maoists).
It's funny that some of you people have no faint ideas regarding the conspiracies that have been hatched.

They are big time suckers.. and i don't give a crap what they welcomes or rejects.. unless they are ready to kneeldown and beg for forgiveness infront of all Nepali peoples for what they have done to us over the last decade.
I too am a media student and know the fact that there are more than 1 way to look at a situation.. and i will not totally beleive what "hard talk" says... as i don't have a clue what he is up to as well... forget about Kantipur or whoever.
All i know for sure is.. They all want their piece of the cake. Happy birthday Nepal.
