Bimalendra Nidhi, General Secretary of Nepali Congress (Democratic), Legislature, and former Minister was recently in the United States to attend an International Conference "Nepal Today: Challenges of Inclusive Democracy" organized by India China Institute, The New School. In a luncheon meet hosted by the Madheshi Diaspora in New York, Nidhi gave an interview to Bindu Chaudhary. Excerpts of the interview:

Bimlendra Nidhi  , Son of Late Mahendra Narayan Nidhi of Dhanusha  is another one of the most Corrupt Individual. We all know what a Massive Corruption drive was carried out when Late Mahendra Narayan Nidhi was  Irrigation Minister in the Interim Govt in 1990-1991 .  That was when  Bimlendra Had Purchased   Mitsubishi   PAJERO.

The house in Mills Area Janakpur was simple 2 room about to Crumble, which is now Replaced by one of the Finest. Their House in VILLAGE Nagrain Dhanusha, another symbol of Massive Corruption.   This PERSON is another    Corrupt, Self Centered, Power Hungry, Back Stabber.

       These Rascals are just  MISLEADERS, who at any cost want to keep miguiding and misleading general public, Even if that means the  DIS-Integration of our  Once Beautiful Kingdom.

Madhesis are the integral part of Nepal there is no doubt on that. Nobody has denied or will deny it. I do not agree with the view of the Madhesis that pahadis are responsible for all their misery. There are many Madhesis who have taken prominent role in politics, civil services the technical services and industrial groups. Many Madhesis like Bimalendra Nidhi have been elected and have occupied important rile in the Government. Like him from 1951 there have been many other leaders of Madhesi origin who have been a part of the Panchayati Government, Congress Government, UML and RPP government. It is not that the Madhesis have no been given a chance. Today Madhesis are raising voices for their identity and nationalism blaming the pahadi people for their misery. But it should be noted that their problem is similar to the problems faced by all other ethnical and disadvantaged groups other than those who were close to the palace or those belonging to the upper caste mainly the Brahmans and the Chetriyas. Every ethnical groups, dalits and lower caste people have suffered from the repressive and discriminatory Hindu law and mulukiain in last 238 years. The ethnical and disadvantaged groups of Pahadi area were equally exploited and remains at the bottom of the political, economical and social structure of the country. Only certain section close to the palace and those that belonged to upper class had the opportunity to remain in the ruling power groups of Nepal. The real evils of the Madhesis are their own upper class Madhesis who have exploited their own people from 1951. Instead of blaming the Pahadis or the Monarch I think they should look back at the history and find out who were really responsible for their plight. Bimalendra Nidhi belongs to the established power groups and has tried to come out clean and good in this interview.

Dr Prihvi, independence and freedom means not have a separate country. In US every state is free self determining sate law and policy independent from the centre. This way people of every state prosper and not bound y the centre. That is there will be less control from the centre. In the past people never had a chance to exercise their rights because it is always dictated by the King or the Prime Minister which has created dictatorial regime. Democracy means rights of all people should be respected. As for the revenue form the terai or any other means will also be taxed by the centre like in US the Federal Tax.

Freedom and Peace are not that cheap it takes time and people’s sacrifices to achieve them. It took USA 200 years to achieve democracy and is still not perfect and is trying. They faced lots of resistant form the south block and the white supremacist in other words people like you in Nepal. There will always be devils like you putting barrier blocking peace and democracy to maintain the feudal system. In the end democracy and freedom for all the people will surely come no matter what, it is the teaching of Bhagvatgita.
