Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has tabled a “historic” proposal before the House of Representatives on Thursday depriving His Majesty the King of all the privileges enjoyed by him and declare the reinstated House as “supreme.”

Girija has gone crazy once he's on his political throne!Who is he to decide the future of the nation?Who has given him the power to do so,Prachanda?

I agree with you nee, I think he has gone power mad as well as corrupt. How can the SPA decide to remove the monarchy, because this is what it is.
Only the people of Nepal can do this and as I said on my own blog and message board http://themortalmountaineer.blogspot.com a couple of weeks ago: "If you had a simple vote for ONE person to rule the country, who would it be; Gyanendra, Koirala, Prachanda?" This can only be decided by a referendum and certainly Koirala must not just take control of the army!

I agree with you all, not only Girija but most of all politicians are running after the power. I want to add one more thing, why we need  Nepal as Secular Country ; we are Proud to be Only Hindu country in the world. Our Identity is Hindu Country.
Lets go for election and let people of Nepal decide what they want Secular Country or Hindu Country.

As an ordinary citizen, I do not see how some of the "bold maoist dictated" proclamation has anything concrete to offer the general masses (excluding maoists)! I as a "Loyalist" see the proclamation as a victory to the Maoist. Now that the Maoist have got what they wanted from Andolan 2, its high time we as a people also get what we have been longing for: PEACE.
Will this proclamation bring peace? Will the Maoist now disarm? Will they stop killing and extorting common people? Will the leaders really be accountable to the people? And above all, is this what majority of the people wanted?

This was partly my point yesterday or the day before about needing someone like and English Oliver Cromwell or a Gandhi, a very religious person (Hindu or Buddhist?) who would be seen as utterly uncorruptible, therefore trustworthy, and could lead the peope towards a referendum on the monarchy as well as well ordered elections.
Why is it that SPA and Koirala are concentrating their efforts on the monarchy, the army, the constitution? Why not just do something that would help the people of Nepal directly and NOW, say for the economy, tourism, water supply, power generation, roads, hunger, poverty .................. How big a list do you all want before you all remember that these people are working off the wrong agenda!
Cromwell worked of the right agenda in England 400 years ago. Sure, he got some things wrong, but he stormed into Parliament with his holy bible, threw them all out, tried to help a weak King but then had to fight him and eventually after a bloody civil war gave us the democracy balanced between parliament and monarchy we have today
So, do something for Nepal and it's people NOW you power hungry, corrupt, egotistical bastards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder, now that the SPAM has decided to take Nepal's fate into their own dirty hands, what is next to follow! Will they now change the country's name? Will they now tell us to have an "alias" after our formal names?
This is a start of an authoratarian rule. And by the way, why the hell do they want to change "khula manch" to "shahid manch"? It should be a parking lot, atleast it will solve some of the traffic problems faced by us!
Solve our problems, dont create them!
