Summit talks postponed indefinitely; Maoists to move ahead with patience

The fourth round of summit talks between the ruling seven-party alliance and the Maoists that began at Prime Minister GP Koirala’s residence at Baluwatar Sunday afternoon were postponed indefinitely as no consensus could be reached on monarchy and the issue of arms management.

The postponment of ongoing summit talks can not be taken as encouraging news as aspired by people to see a finding to break the current uncertainity situation out of which almost the country is in suspended mode and most significant and worthy works for the further development of brighter future of country and people have completely handicapped. Earlier finding amicable solution for clearance of crisis is the best but resolving all complicated issues without serios studied about its broader impacts for the future of Nepal and Nepalis will be counter-productive which may ultimately lead to stage of vanishing point of  the independent nation. So,in the name of finding early solution and gaining cheap popularity if things are done  as of  the immediate arising situation of undue influences and immoral pressures from vested interest groups, which are  also widely seen as civil society in disguised, indoctrinated forces and out-siders who only purpose is to make Nepal weak for further explotation by being master living invisible in reality. We all need to be much cautious about taking a decesion in haste and repetent in leisure because it may cause irreparable lose of independent nation.
There is not seen any best and democratic solution to the ongoing crisis, which was also lying pending since 2007 B.S.,none other than making a new democratic constitution through the real representatives of peoples by CA election. So all substancial issues like monarcy and republic need to leave as an agenda to CA,What is very necessary and a most wated to step to do by ongoing summit talks is to make sure of non-involment of arms and armies against people for undue influence in CA election and assured the general people to feel them completely fearless and secured in doing their daily business, attaing education they wished ,movement throughout country, easy environment for living and doing their previous works who are desplaced and non-interferance in the business sectors by anyone illegal and focefully. We have UN to monitor,so why can not we be committed and manage weapons and army as such way whose misuse can be stopped,if there is patriotic feeling and love to people and have not anu personal things to get,I see no reason of deadlock in the ongoing talks from any side.If there is not a very clear and clean heart among the so called peoples mandated forces for ruling country at this moment of the country there will not be any possibility to see peace and to fell secured by entire common Nepali. So,let us asked God to provide the leaders a sense of dedication, humanity and honesty to ownself, one children and for all peace loving Nepali, which i beleive is only way out to get out of current crisis or be ready for another unexpected and unberable situation to go and which ultimately our greater and irreparable personal and national lose.God help us,Jay Nepal !

So, the talks are postponed indefinitely. My understanding of indefinitely is that it means "don't know when..." Isn't this why the King sacked the government in the first place, for "not knowing when ...." they would deal with the Maoist killers?
So, take your time Mr Koirala, there is no hurry, especially as you don't answer to anyone having virtually removed power from the King. You will soon be a communist Maoist state and building a peaceful and thriving economy under comrade Prachanda's rule, just like all the other communist states around the world.

This is really a sad and dissapointing news for us, the Nepalese people. I'd be much happy if the next date for the talk had been set even though this was inconclusive and unfruitful. But, let us  not get our hopes down so quickly and pray that they solve this issue!

I do not think this summit talk will go anywhere. Key issues of position of King and Arms will never solve under Girija's watch. Whatever he says outside, he would always be pro king pro king's army. Prachanda would never lay down arms without overthrowing the king.
I suspect, there would be another army coup just like Thailand. Then the king will have another 2 - 3 years to play around with the people. This is bad news for Nepali people.

Negotiations of this magnitude cannot be resolved in one day.Although the sincerety of the maoists must be appreciated they are still communists and communists are known not to honour commitments from a position of strength. The stumbling issues seems to be arms management and the monarchy. On these issues both arguements hold water. If the maoists disarm before the issue of monarchy is resolved , then the this untrustworthy King might opt to use the NA to wipe out the the SPA and the maoists. On the other hand we cannot have the armed maoists running a parralell government.Without agreeing to hold a referendum the future of monarchy cannot be decided. If such a step is taken the again the King's supporters can argue that the King was forced out even when he might have won the referendum. The solution might be besides other issues is to agree on confining both the NA and the maoists to barracks under international supervision, agreeing and fixing a date to the decide whether to opt for a republic or retain the monarchy in a limited form. After these key issues are put in place the interim constitution, parliament and the CA might be easier to put into place. We must not get impatient because these negiotiations are not supposed to address short term issues. The implications of the negotiations will have long term impact on the country.

The reality of the exact position of prevaling political forces are almost equal while from the point of view  of their capacity and status as of this juncture of time, however it looks some of them are powerful and heavy weight but in in case of real test of democracy democracy almost every power has identical weight. So,in this very critical moment of power balanced,no power can really be able to ignored other existence power that is what a very important message need to be taken that every existence power have to come forward to solve the country's internal problem by themselves unlike previously of unnecessarily involving outsiders to find way of to the crisis which solely and only related among diffrent existence political power. If we very whole heartedly would like to sortout our issues and want to see full democratic independent Nepal to go,there is indeed no other better and sustainable solution than reconciliation of forces and have fresh talking keeping with  a view of safegurading people's democratic rights based on Universally declaration human rights and other international human rights standards, and find suitable justful and lawful way for maintaining check and balance between existence power.Otherwise there may be always possibility of having armed conflict. Can't we leran from south Afica and apply the kind of same formula of reconciliation ? Let us  think about all aspects of peace to make Nepal and Nepali a prosperous and democratic nation.Jay Nepal !

First of all we should gunned down GIRIJA PRASAD KOIRALA. He is the No.1 obstruction in peace process.
Now we should be ready to carry arm and to eliminate these unwanted elements. Such as; GIRIJA PRASAD KOIRALA and Mad dog GYANNENDRA.
The Maoist should not give an inch. Who is so foolish to surrender arms and bow to the enemy?.
If GIRIJA and GYANNENDRA is so brave, why not let the Nepal Army to surrender the arms before Maoist do so?.
If the peoples grievances were heard in a peaceful way, why the arms conflict would have come now?.
We will do whatever we had to do, to eliminate GIRIJA PRASAD KOIRALA and GYANNENDRA.

THIS IS TOTALLY BIASED OPINION. LET'S SEE THE TALKS POSTPONED DUE TO MAOISTS, WHO WANTS TO ONLY GET ALL THE THINGS FROM THE GOVERNMENT BUT GIVING NOTHING, BUT THE MAN IS EXPRESSING HIS ANGER AGAINST GIRIJA AND KING. YESTERSAY'S BEHAVIOUR OF THE MAOIST CADRES SHOWED THAT THEY ARE NOT IN FAVOUR OF PEOPLE. MAOISTS ARE THE REAL TERRORISTS OF THE WORLD MORE CRUEL THAN AL QUAIDA.

GP as the head of state cannot give all the maoists demand. The NA cannot lay down the arms in their disposal because they are the national army while the maoists are a rebel force. There is a line between the two.Yes, the maoist behaviour in Balwatar was unwarranted. You cannot advocate violence that has crippled the country for the past decade. reasonable solutions include:
1.Confining the maoists with arms to specified barracks with arms till political solutions are put in place.
2.Just as you cannot wish away the moaists you cannot unilaterally demand the end of monarchy-it must decided by a  referendum.
3.It is true that the communists throughot history have hijacked power and the maoists have to do a lot more to convince all about firm commitment to parliamentatry politics.
4.Compromise through dialogue is the solution to all problems-arms and killing has never solved any poltical problems.
5.Finally, critisicism is fine but lately we have seen some foul and demeaning language used on this board. This must stop.Disagreeing is one thing but using language insulting each other or the head of government is not a part of democracy. Most of us participating have so far managed to oppose each other with a sense of humour and respect for the person's view.Lately we have witnessed the entry of one or two people with very to contribute except a lot of insults. They must relaize if all of us reply in the same manner the objective of sharing views will cease. One or two rotten apples spoil the whole lot.
6.Thus,santos,I too have sympathy for the maoists and prefer a republic, but only if the maoists convert sincerely into a parliamentary party and only if a free and fair referendum chooses a republic. If the majoirity choose a cremonial monarchy I will respect the verdict and accept the King as the head of State. That my friend is democracy.Yesterday's breakdown was as Prabesh put it was due to the maoist,s  behaviour inside and outside the venue. Please do not follow anyone blindly.
