As the debate of whether to give space to the King in the new democracy is ongoing, Maoist Chairman Prachanda has stated that there will not be any space for a 'ceremonial King' in new Nepal, which he said will be a democratic republic.

But of course, what else do you expect Prachanda to say? As for rest of the neutral Nepalis (and this is the majority of Nepalis), we agree with what the wise and mature PM Koirala has stated, ie, there should be space for the King in the ceremonial capacity.

Prachanda is absulutely right in saying that the King should not be given any space.Afterall the recent movement in contrast to earliar ones had Gyanendra in direct control of trying to suppress it.Gyanendra or monarchy must be put to referendum with two simple question:Monarchy or Republic.Only after this verdict can the King have space or exit.As for Prachanda until and unless the maoists disarm and stop their policy of intimidation they can never be trusted as a responsible political outfit.

Either king is included or not in interim constitution should not be the issue. constituent assembly would decide it and i dont think king will have any space after that. Let him to remain in his post till constituent assembly. And how can Maoist say that the king should be wiped before the assembly? Its the great people of Nepal not the Maoist leaders to decide the fate of Monarchy. Another alternative could be public referendum for this issue before constituent assembly.
If we wipe out king before the constituent assembly in the interim constitution, what is the issue about monarchy in constituent assembly?
