Over 46 percent pass in the SLC exams; Provision of board toppers scrapped

46.5 percent of the students who appeared in the exams have passed, officials said.

The year before, only 38.72 percent of the examinees had passed in the SLC examinations.

The percentage shows how pathetic our education system is in the rural areas. The SPA govt must invest massively to make our education system strong and effective. These students are the future of Nepal, and 46.5 percent pass is really really low.

Couple this with 'next to nil' development in rural areas, no wonder we have produced Maoists in this country.

It is a good thing that more students passed the SLC.However the pass percentage rate needs to be around 90-95%. in the absence of vocational training many frustrated students give up studies and this leads to social problems. This can be achieved by making the SLC more flexible. One option is the "basket system" where students choose subjects they enjoy or are keenly interested in, but more vocational training institutions must be developed to absorp these students. They must be encouraged to look beyond the normal IA,BA,MA routine and remained unemployed and rather be incouraged to  gain skills that generate income for themselves.

When the students give up studies after failing exams they take up terrorism and mobocracy and Government of terrorism (SPAM) exploits these students to spread Mobocracy, goon movement, extortions, killing, violence and sorts of criminal activities in the country. This is happening right now, right in front of our eyes.

The toppers of the year are  simply dumped in the dustbin. "Unhealthy competitions" arise is not good reasons to take away the award of the students. Rather more schools will claim that they had the topper and the top ten with them. Besides it is not difficult to find out the fact later. Perhaps, if the true topper is not from the valley or from a high family, s/he will not get the  recognition. What is the problem if the 4000, distinction holders, names, address, schools  percentage and position are published rather than scraping the topper title?

Or is the topper a son or daughter  of the sanotimi Education controler board member?

Lets scrap away the system of SLC and the examination that curtails students promotion.

good, seems nepal is going in a positive direction.
toppers list is crap and it should not be published any more. it simply makes the students overconfident and in future they just end up like baburam bhattarai. ill say we should eliminate the percentage system and start grading system for students. grading system gets the students in a equality frame.

54% Still failed in the SLC

What are they supposed to do?? Their school is over, they cannot go to college!!

The Mahendrian education concept still prevails, after the 16 years of democracy.

We need 90+% success rate.

Change the education system right now! It is not the students they failed. It is education system that failed.

Change Change Change the exam and grading system right away!!
If you cannot do it right now Decrease the pass mark such that 90+% can get through. Make it 25, 20 or even 15 but send them to college.
