UN ready to extend help in Nepal peace process: Gautam

A senior official of the United Nations, Kul Chandra Gautam, has reiterated that the world body is ready to extend its help in Nepal’s peace process.

I doubt that India will agree. Besides, the Maoists are looking for the UN because the UN peacekeepers will in effect make a 'buffer zone' and prolong the Maoist problems. Once they are here, it will be the Nepal Army and the govt on one side and the Maoists on the other.

The problem should be settled without them.

Net conclusion: another 'chaal' of the Maoists and the govt is buying into it- this reinforces SPAM !

I don't agree with UN mediation.

1) Nepal is a sovereign country. No interference required by outsiders.
2) UN in it's present form is the most stupid world organisation.
3) UN messes up problems. Look at congo, bosnia, and there are a zillion other examples.
4) If UN has a bit of power...it should control the US and UK first.
5) Why doesn't UN do a thing about Kashmir where 40,000 have died and continue to die? Will India allow it to meddle it it's affair.
