Puspha Kamal Dahal's Long Walk: Rise Of A Rebel

Exactly 79 days after the historic first meeting of the Constituent Assembly (CA) declared Nepal federal democratic republic and effectively abolished the centuries-old institution of monarchy, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who is more popular by his nom de guerre 'Prachanda', meaning the "Fierce One", has been elected as the first Prime Minister of republic Nepal.

prachandapath, congratulations!
After elected to PM post, I saw your picture decorated with flawer garlands all around your neck . I thought I should offer one on your victory. latter I thought like this is not really a victory and I shouldn't offer you the flower garland this time. I will keep the flawer garland till that time when
(1) you be able to stop curruption, nepotism, dictatorship and law lessness.
(2)you reform Nepal's health care and educational system
(3) you be able to provide pure drinking water to all nepali citizens
(4)you be able to provide cheap and conveniant transportation, 24 hour electricity in whole nepal
(5)you secure basic human right, free speech and equal oppertunity to all no matter whatever their ecthnic groups, sex, religion, language, occupation,poor-rich and race(cast).
if you succeed to reform these basic things, I take it as your victory as well as all nepalese victory and you know, I will be there on the fron line with the golden flower garland to offer you.

There are three contributions that we have to appreciate about the Maoists and Congress. :-

1-Without the Maoists, The Fall of the Shah Dynasty would not have been possible.
-Without the Congress the Fall of Gyanendra would not have been peaceful.
2-Maoists gave a boost to the voices of Janajatis, Dalits and marginalized people.
-Congress by delaying the entry of Maoists to the Government gave the opportunity to the corrupt, upper caste, the rich and the powerful to hide their wealth and shift them to safe places in the west.
3-Maosist was instrumental in removing the corrupt Koirala Clan from the Nepali Politics.
-Congress turned the Mashesis into a powerful party. Congress Party’s plot to bring rift between the Maoists and the Madhesis completely failed and instead backfired bringing their own downfall.[/

Dear Annandji,

Wonderful to read your presentation articles about profiles of President  and the newly elected PM of republic Nepal. Well formulated and well worked in such short time. However, I have to draw your attention that PM Puspa Kamal Dahal's childhood before the family migrated to Chitawan was brought up at Kaski district - NOT in Tanahun as you have written in your article. His old village is located at Dhikur Pokhari VDC which is right after Hyanga VDC where one of the Tibetan refugee camp is still found. The Pokhara - Baglung high way passes through his village today and comes to Nagdanda. In the local language his village used to be called "Lhewade" by the gurungs living in the neighbourhood. Nagdanda used to be a very busy trade routes points between Western Nepal and the Tibet in the old days.

I enjoyed very much in reading the both articles.

All the best,

Hem Gurung

GOOD TO SEE THE HOPEFULLY FORMER REBEL IN MAINSTREAM POLITICS AS THE PM OF A ALLIANCE OF  THREE DIFFERING PARTIES. NOW, ALL THE TALL TALES MR. DAHAL TOLD US MUST BE FULFILLED. HE CAN'T BLAME GP OR GYANENDRA . EXCESSES CAN'T BE COMMITTED BY A PARTY IN POWER. I HOPE THE NC REVAMPS PRETTY QUICK TO FACE THE GENERAL ELECTIONS AND HELPS INSURE THE NEW CONSTITUTION HAS NO ROOM FOR DICTATORS.

One thing is as clear as broad day light that the path of Bhutanising could not be stopped ultimately for what the concerned external force have played a very concrete but cunning and gainful role towards this end resulting to weaken Nepal.Latest  comment by Fmr.PM of India Mr.Inder K.Gujaral, asking to make Hindi second national language of Nepal by Indian political party and trying to block PM's first visit to Chian in closing ceremony of Beijing Olmpic, are the few recent vivid exmples for trying to capture nation's de facto sovereignty like one in Bhutan.
So,there would clear two major thoughts of schools viz.supporting Bhutanising thought and opposing that thought and promoting independent and full fledged status of sovereignty. At the same time the supprters of opposing the process of Bhutanising, would be dacing very hardship since major political parties are hiddenly and innerly proceeding to stage of Bhutan.
