From a farmer's son to first president of republic Nepal: A short biography of Dr Ram Baran Yadav
Dr Ram Baran Yadav has made history by becoming the first president of republic Nepal through a closely contested presidential run-off held Monday, thus fulfilling the long cherished dream of many Nepalis of seeing a true Janata ko Choro (son of the people) to assume the responsibility of the coveted post.

By the way I have no agenda about anyone in Nepal. I have been living in US for 20 years, just noticed a good writing when I saw one.

congratulations to Dr Ram Baran Yadav on winning the title of the first head of the state. Though he won title securing comfortable majority, I am not satisfied with the result because all those parties, which are aliened to secure his majority, are all looser in CA election ( direct voting system ). So I assume that Dr Ram Baran Yadav doesn't have the peoples mandate to be head of the state because he is representing from a looser party. Also, all those parties which were aliened to elect him, were untrustworthy. They will go on their nee if a piece of bone is shown to them. disgusting.

Reading this beautiful article on Dr Ram Baran Yadav, it feels like Nepal finally elected a true honest president. Hopefully he will be the first leader to abolish all those usual mishaps that happen everyday in all government offices in Nepal, start the country to the new horizon where the people are paid fairly for the jobs they do, abolishment of corruptions, and taking in consideration of each and every fair citizens working for the government.

Good news is that Dr Ram Baran Yadav is a first new president of Nepal and the most deserving candidate. Congratulations to all concerned! Now people will have to be assured that he will keep the sovereignty of Nepal intact by uniting the derailed communes and development efforts that lag far behind over the decades.
Nepali Congress is accused of their promise to India with handing over Nepal's sovereignty to them, like Lhendup Dorje did to Sikkim and BP Koirala and his allies will do, to Nepal. Now people are expecting to see what new things he can bring in for prosperity, peace and progress of Nepal and Nepalese.
We, a Nepalese diaspora living outside the country, are closely watching the progress that is taking place in Nepal. We wish you all the best, Dr Yadav, for your dreams to come true, going forward.
Cheers,
Madhu Aryal

Somehow, needs to say nation got a kind of right leader to lead the country as a interim head of state, interim in a sense that he has been elected as per the provision provided by temporaririly arranged constitution not a full fledged CA promulated constitution. All though he represents the NC and G.P.Koirala was the main contributer behind his current destiny, but because of his simpleness, cadre of the party who beleives honesty and decation to party and nation is a must and rest are secondary matter, that is why he used to focus on larger cause of nation and nationality, besides all he never believe in regional politics like one of Mahanta Thakur. He is al so the dedicated and faithful follower of great leader and staesman late B.P.Koirala who's main dream was to take the country through the national reconcilaition because Nepal can not be maintained her identity without the same in long run.
Maoist also needs to credited for making him this position because the way Maoists applied their dtrategy had bound NC and UML to have named Madhesi for the purpose otherwise it would not be possible to siselined power-monger leaders like GPK and MKN.
Congratulation to newly chosen head of state and wish him all the best and good luck.
But the seen dirty politics playing by dirty parties indicates that there are more worsenening and challenging days are ahead and if the things are not honestly and righjtly handled and dealt the suicidal result of unholy and unnatural deals formerly began from 12 points pact in Delhi could not easily be posible to check.

Congratulations Hon. Dr. Ram Baran Yadav for giving the country its first non-feudal Head of State. You are the first citizen (among us) to occupy the Number One position in state. Therefore, we also expect you to be more matured and more understanding and leave aside the party's stances. You must show that you are a real "Rashtra Pati" and not a humble worker belonging to any party or any group. No force or obligation should come to your way of decision making.
In this view, I further expect you to understand the issue of empowering the marginalized groups. Further, as it appears in the article, that one madhes will disintegrate the nation; and that Mr. Yadav, since he opposed the idea of one madhes, is a nationalist. I couldnt understand the logic behind this line. How can an autonomous and empowered people be a threat to national integrity? Does the writer mean that the Madhesis should not me empowered (and hence discriminated) to prevent (his personal fear) disintegration???
Best regards,
Bal Krishna Jha

Props to you on a great article, Anand. I would, however, like to point out that you have misspelled "decent" and have used "descent" instead.
Quote
...was appointed general secretary of the party and
had from the past one
year been fulfilling this responsibility very effectively
I believe you should have used "for the past year" instead of "from".
Please take this as constructive criticism and do let me know if you think I am mistaken. I would have PM'ed you or sent it to your personal email address instead of posting on a public forum, but I couldn't find it anywhere on this site.

Prachanda’s nemesis Yadav is getting back color to the NC because of this just unfortunate twist of fate and thanks to this coalition deal they (NC) clinched with other components of the Nepalese political arena. That means the NC fared pretty better than expected at its numerous attempts to finding the political compromise the Maoists were incapable to conclude during whole three months of stagnation.
Let us remember Murphy’s Law, “Anything that can go wrong will. The point is to look ahead and predict what could go wrong, and then work to prevent these outcomes.” So we the improvised judges, the new citizens of a sovereign Republic of Nepal, decided on the acquittal for the NC leaders.
The new president because of his highly coveted job of a “figure head” will be that of an avuncular existence who comes from far beyond the sea to distribute candies and diplomas as well to the meriting scholars and the simple peasants alike.
We the cliff-dwellers of these megalopolis wish to see a young country like Nepal to go into the groundswell of human existence instead of just the face value, by exalting the good governance, accountability and rule of law, the main pillars of Democracy to bring stability needed for economic growth and investment for long term. So why, Nepalese should enshrine the negotiating principle that ‘nothing is agreed until everything is agreed.’
We only hope the intellectual probity credited on behalf of the new president Ram Baran Yadav will inspire everybody to put an end to the partisan squabbling and bring everybody into a reasonable life as well as dealings so as to restore peace and prosperity in Nepal that every Nepalese merits as much as any other in this world of ours!
Congrats Mr. President.

I agree.
Maoists decide not to form govt
http://www.nepalnews.com/archive/2008/jul/jul22/news08.php
Maoists are not forming gov. on basis of recent political turning. The election result is being nullified by the current political developments.
Maoists see foreign hand in sudden political turn
http://www.nepalnews.com/archive/2008/jul/jul22/news11.php
"The Maoist strongman also revealed that his party had received pressure from New Delhi to accept Girija Prasad Koirala as the president of the country. Responding to a query from journalists, he denied infiltration of Indian spies into his party, but said all parties in Nepal have contacts and relations with Indian agents, and his party is not an exception."
India is such an idiot to favour the khattam politician

"BADHAI CHA SATHEI SUBHKAMANA"
PRATHAM RASTRAPATI RA UP RASTRAPATI LAI.
I THINK ITS A GREAT COMBINATION, A DOCTOR AND A JUDGE,
NEPAL WAS AFFECTED BY LOTS OF VIRUS AND IT WAS REALLY GETTING WORST, NOW THE DOCTOR IS HERE TO FIND OUT THE DISEASE AND CURE IT TO MAKE A HEALTHY NEPAL. THERE WERE LOTS OF INJUSTICE GOING ON IN NEPAL AND NOW THE JUDGE IS THERE TO FIND OUT THE EXACT SOLUTION AND PROVIDE JUSTICE. BUT WHO IS GONNA BE THE PRIME MINISTER ? LETS HAVE SOME NEW FACE WHO HAVE THE DESIRE TO BUILD THE NATION WITHOUT SELF INTEREST, LETS MAKE A PERSON FROM THE HIMAL. WE HAD LOTS OF PLAYERS FROM THE HILL & VALLEY.
ANY WAY WE CAN WAIT AND WATCH WHAT THEY WOULD DO.
NEPAL AMA KO JAY HOS.
