The Historic Day arrives: CA polling starts

Ek Jug Ma Ek Din (One day in an era) - is the much borrowed line from a poem of late poet Gopal Prasad Rimal to describe the Constituent Assembly (CA) election.

The New York Times has made a comparing video review as to who amongst the big neighbors of Nepal, i.e. India and China could be the leader in the 21st century. Please click here to have your own idea:

With so many old faces running and with the violence in the streets I doubt there will be any change in Nepal. Without new faces there will be no History Day to celebrate.

We have impatiently waited for this very moment. Very few nations and their citizens have this rare opportunity to write their own constitution and destiny.

We wish our leaders and citizen will respond to this serious responsibility astutely. Our behavior during and after this august election is crucial for our survival and progress. It is test of our endurance, political maturity and patience. If our leaders behave immaturely and whimsically again this time like before we are destined to more bloodshed, instability and never-ending fights. This is time to realize graveness of the very volatile situation.

May the election be a success without major untoward incidences. The more laborious period starts when the lawfully elected representatives meet to write the constitution as per the aspirations of the fellow citizens without coming under the foreign influence. Once ominous regal influence has already dwindled to insignificant. However, we have to be very wary about outside influence, which is the only main and genuine threat to a success of a constituent assembly.

All those who contributed to this day including the main insurgent party the Maoists and other major parties the NC, CPN-UMN, MJF deserve hearty congratulations for this significant day. It is a start for better future and we must end it with positive note with drafting of a fair and balanced democratic constitution. We should not hurry and fight each other. We must respect the verdict of the sovereign citizens and their aspirations as the foremost mission without a hitch.

If this is first time Nepali citzens are preparing Nepali constiution, Mr Biswo ath Upadhya and so many others are from which country? I also understand political partis represent the people but can you give me one exapmle of their seriousness about peoples aspiration and interest? They just care about their own personal and party's interest. True Nepali people are always suffure from political game.

WITH one election today, Nepal will have the chance to do what few modern nations have done: refashion its entire government.

The fateful date arrived! Now it depends entirely upon the Nepalese to depict their own history with golden letters!!

We simply don’t have the magic wand to forecast about the result of such CA polls. Further we don’t want to frighten people away. Instead we should try our utmost to reach out to them to make them hear the voice of peace and reconciliation.

Nepal makes the cover page of almost all renowned mass media throughout the world. Please click here for one example:

Booths have been 'captured' in some polling stations in Lalitpur, Dolakha and Baglung districts.

The Election Commission (EC) has received complaints of booth capturing by Maoists in Kaleshwor, Thula Durlung and Gumdi VDCs in Lalitpur constituency-1. An official said investigation into the complaints is underway.

A report from Dolakha said Nepali Congress supporters captured two polling
booths in Gaumudi VDC in constituency-1 of the district while the Maoists have captured a booth in Malu VDC. Similarly, the CPN (UML) has captured a
booth in Sahare VDC of the same constituency in Dolakha.

Likewise, Rastriya Janamorcha has captured a booth in Rangkhani VDC in Baglung constituency-2.

Meanwhile, there are reports of clashes between the cadres of rival political parties in some districts.

In Sonapur of Sunsari district, cadres of the Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist) clashed following a dispute. Reports said at least 13 persons were injured, two of them seriously, in the scuffle.

Infact it was a historic day for us,
every parties where saying there will be free and fair election, there was free (no one had to pay for the ballot paper before voting) but was not fair, i was listening to the FM radio all day long and with live reporting from the election booth, heard a lot of problem in many places, the most distrupting factor was MAOIST/YCL, i heard that comrade prachanda was telling his comrades to act as Gandhi till the election was over, that might me their another form of being gandhi, and now the election commission is saying that it was successful, 60% vote were casted where is another 40 %, the percentage is still high, people who are living in kathmandu and who could not go to their home for voting for some reason, they did not get that chance to cast the vote, and moreover nepalis citizen who are living in different part of the world did not get the chance to vote, that might also be a huge percentage,

i remember a hindi movie "border" in which a soldier was reading a letter which was sent to him by his family, ghar ka chat udgaya, baki sab thik hai, byash margayi baki sab thik hain, ghar me bimar hai baki sab thik hai" and so on baki sab thik hain

its the same case over here booth capture bhayo, aru sabei thik cha, mar pit bhayo baki sabei thik cha, hathiyar sahit aye aru sabei thik cha, ballot box jalaye aru sabei thik cha, aru dal ka neta lai gaun ma chirna diyenan aru sabei thik cha, janta ko photo khichiyo aru sabei thik cha, bhasan gare anusar ta sabei thik thiyo kam garai anusar ta kehi pani thik chaina, matdan ramro bhayo aru sabei thik cha, neta ta haru lai vote haliyo aru sabei thik cha, natija ramro naramro ke hola aru sabei thik cha, maobadi le jitena bhaneta nepal kabja gardincha 10 minute mei aru sabei thik cha, congress le jitena bhane dhandali bhayo baki sab thik cha, makune le jitena bhane dhadali bhayo baki sab thik cha, khei ke khei ke

ABB JANTA LE KE PAUCHAN TA ?
JE PAYEKA THIYE TEHI TA PAUCHAN, RAJA LE KE PAUNCHAN TA "BOLNA PANI PAYENAN"
ANY WAY THE ELECTION WAS GOOD BECAUSE IT CAME AFTER MANY YEARS, LETS SEE WHAT WE GET

ANY WAY WISHING EACH AND EVERY NEPALI (NEPAL & ALL OVER THE WORLD) A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR 2065.

Can anyone give me the name of the developing country where any elections any violence free?

Please don't mention China or Bhutan. They are exceptional ones.

I am surprised though, booth capturing were generally limited to Terai in earlier elections. There seem to be new kids on the block in the hills. Good progress.

It is democracy.

I voted for TREE. What a feeling.

I was expecting turnout of 70%, bit disappointing.

Yes we THINK all our problems will go away with one election...wish life was so simple. It is all about old wine in a new bottle...same old corrupt and inefficient people to choose from...same old murderers who have the blood of over 13000 innocent Nepalese on their hands to choose from....where is the ELECTION my friends.
Many elctions will come and go in the course of a nations history...but as long as the mindset of our leaders is like Girija, Prachanda , Madhav Nepal and Baburam Bhattarai...we are destined to fail.
There will be no new Nepal...I promise you that as long as we have the rouges running wild....we will have no new Nepal..... as long as we have these greedy and thirsty animals bating for the blood of innocent and poor Nepalese like you and me...there shall be no new Nepal.
REMEMBER...Not everything that can be counted counts and not verything that counts can be counted.
May Lord Pashupatinath bless us and free us from the bondages of these rascals.

Nepal has overcome two big hurdles in achieving full democracy.
Number one- Completed the election.
Number two- Peaceful election without much violence and terror as anticipated.

Politicians had spread alarm about Maoists using force to disrupt the election and Madhesis escalate violence to avoid election in Terai. Some politicians like Deuba, Sushil koiala and Oli even recommended using army. Some political groups created alarm among the people about Maoists intention of creating violence and Madhesis disrupting the poll. That did not happen. King did not create any disturbances as accused by some people. This proves that how the politicians can lie and create terror in people for their advantage. We have to congratulate Election Commission and other responsible parties for this peaceful election. Nepal has proved that we are peaceful people. Our election violence is nothing in comparison to the election violence in Zimbabwe, Kenya and Pakistan.

It's a  great and  right time to congratulate all peace-loving Nepali people who have showed an examplary and  appreciating  action by successfully completion of most worried and long awaiting CA election.
Now,it's a responsibility and duty of the politicians and elected representatives to fulfill the real and true aspiration of people to make Nepal a peaceful, prosperous, united and fully reconciled ( Non of the existence power be left without proper addressed ) country.
The needs of hour is  the statesman, which is not seen yet in Nepal, like former president Mandela of S.Africa who had generously tackle the post-coflict period. To manage the post-polls period is  more challenging and complicate that is why there needs seriousness, extra talent, wisedom, selfishlessness and perspective thought which at the moment completely shortage.
One very important fact which can not be ignored is that so many Nepalis from in and out of Nepal are left without providing opportunity to exercise their voting right,so newly coming constitution needs to incorporate their justful voices as well.In order to accept the voices of people and making the new constitution  truely aspired and endorsed by the people,it is necessary to go to people for endorsement before its full implementation.
WISHING ALL NEPALIS IN AND ABROAD A VERY HAPPY,PROSPEROUS,PEACEFUL AND HEALTHY NEW YEAR,2065.
