Agitating Gurkhas return their medals to British govt

British Gurkha veterans have returned some 50 medals awarded to them by the British government in recognition of their long service to the 'Crown and the country' in protest of alleged discrimination against them.

I salute the Gurkhas serving in the British Raj and India. They have been integral part in sustaining the Nepalese economy. Their remittance has helped Nepal for hundreds of years. These people whom the Madhesis call Pahadiyas have contributed a lot to the economy and prestige of the country than the Madhesis. In Nepal the king had exploited them as slaves from the time of Prithvinarayan Shah. The politicians took them for granted. Even now Girija is not in favour of helping the lower ranking real Ghurkhas of Nepal.. He is busy just helping Katwal the man hand picked by the king. Prachanda has also exploited the hilly Ghurkhas in their people’s army. But Gurkhas are respected every where as a fearless and brave solders. I salute them and wish them all success in the struggle in UK. I hope they will also concentrate in Nepal to ouster the King, Girija and other reactionary leaders.

Yes I agree with you on this matter even though I disagreed with you about Sujata earlier. The Chinese repression must be deplored and so also the use of excessive force by the Nepalese Police against the peaceful Tibetan protestors in Kathmandu.  Girija the father of Sujata is apprehensive that if he displeases China that may help the Maoists in the CA election.

I think these Gurkhas should listen to "Buffaloes Soldiers" by Bob Marley.

Didn't these Gurkhas fighting for equal right now knew that they were not equal to white colored British Army before joining to fight with them? And I don't understand why British should treat contracted army men from a different country as one of their own. After all, they contract foreign people in order to save their own.

I can guarantee that there will 100's of Nepalese ready to join British Army today despite knowing about unequal conditions. Even British know this.  So what is the fuss about? Demanding a job with your own conditions, bullshit!

The bigger question is why Gurkhas had to go to join British Army, and are we doing enough so that no one from Nepal joins these rouge armies?
